CN12 Impact of diet on immune checkpoint blockade: Nurse-directed dietary intervention

چکیده
Gut microbiota modulates the response to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in various cancers, and diet represents most natural non-evasive method shift its composition. A recent study suggests that a high dietary fiber intake may improve progression-free survival (PFS) of melanoma patients treated with ICB. However, impact on advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been yet investigated. The objective this was assess effect diet, including intake, NSCLC amenable Our research nurse assessed habits 102 ICB using food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) probiotics supplementation (approved by ethics committee). Upon consent each participant, answers 47 questions included FFQ were recorded, analysed calculation tool estimate 30 different nutrients correlated PFS. total (49% men) completed survey median age 67 years follow-up 18.6 months. In contrast melanoma, did correlate an improved PFS (median PFS: low fiber=16.0 months versus fiber=9.8 months, p=0.42) NSCLC. Of note, group 11g/day compared 20g/day study. Conversely, saturated fatty acids (SFA) favorable outcome SFA=9.1 SFA=17.4 p=0.03). sources SFA mostly from dairy products. our study, had very could explain absence benefit. longer With emergence gut immuno-oncology arena, providing evidence-based recommendations educational tools for nurses important strategy potentially increase efficacy.

checkpoint blockade to stimulate the immune response have demonstrated promising outcomes in advanced malignancies [1]. As a result, novel cancer immunotherapy was named a scientific breakthrough of the year in 2013 by Science. Consistent with its mechanism of action of de novo stimulation or enhancement of pre-existing T cell responses, a number of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) have be...

Increased numbers of tumour infiltrating T‑cells have long been associated with a better prognosis in ovarian cancer, which has led to the general assumption of a relevant impact of T‑cellular anti-tumour immunity in this disease. As a consequence of this knowledge, a multitude of immunologic therapies has emerged over the past years. Although some reports could evidence a successful induction ...

BACKGROUND Severe myocarditis associated with electrical conduction abnormalities and occasionally heart failure has been well documented following treatment with immune checkpoint blockade with an estimated incidence of less than 1%. However, the incidence, early detection, and management of less severe immune-related myocarditis are unknown since most immunotherapy trials have not included ro...
